This week has me spinning. I’m finalizing the decorative elements and choices for my trend exhibition and workshop space at one of the largest flooring fairs in the world held in January in Hannover, Germany called Domotex. It’s a huge undertaking but I’m enjoying it immensely. To put my ideas into a concept and to design a space from the ground up is my greatest passion. I love to bring my visions to life.
Domotex is where everyone in the industry goes to learn the newest developments in the world of flooring from carpets to rugs, laminate to hardwood and beyond. But it’s also the place for shop owners and buyers to select the latest products for their customers. And it’s where architects and designers visit to be inspired, to meet like-minded friends, and to connect with the industry.
I’m designing a trend exhibition called MOOD SPACES which is a nearly 3,000 square foot premiere exhibit in Hall 2 where I’ll share multiple trend stands (6) with furniture that I’ve hand-selected from Concept Store by Möbel Staude in Hannover, plus I’ve invited speakers to host free multiple workshops each day, plus it will be a very lively space for visitors to relax, meet and greet other designers, and other creative people from retailers to content creators, architects and interiors experts. In Mood Spaces, visitors can be part of a “live” creative experience - you can watch Artist and Designer Lena Petersen create one of her signature wall murals using all of the paint colors from Caparol Icons that I’ve chosen for the space.
Mood Spaces will be in Hall 2 during Domotex 2024 in January and I can’t wait to welcome you there.
I’ve been planning Mood Spaces since Spring, so to see it finally coming together feels so very satisfying. Soon I can (almost) take in a deep sigh of relief as I enjoy now the final, yet most critical, stages.
In preparation for this premiere exhibition, I gave a trend lecture this morning as part of the live press event that Domotex presented to the media. As one of the speakers, I shared three core design trends that all have sustainability at their core, which is a big theme in the world of design that should continue for years to come (as it must). That’s why today here on my Substack, I’ve decided to began a three-part series to introduce you to these three significant trends.
I’ll share the second and third in the upcoming days. But first…
The first trend is… (drumroll please)…
