Summer Interiors Trend: Quirky Nostalgic Escapism

Let’s face it, we’ve endured a long period of uncertainty and collective heaviness… And world events just aren’t letting up, are they? In my conversations online and off, most people rather stay home than go out, summer vacations are being planned closer to home, and more of us crave comfort, warmth, and joy more than ever - and one of the places we can truly create that without anyone getting in our way is in our own home.

There’s also a growing rejection of the overly curated and hyper-minimal design that we see all over Instagram with beige being the only color in the room.

In its place, there’s a new kind of maximalism emerging, that’s quirky, campy, rebellious, artsy, expressive, and bold. I’m calling it Quirky Nostalgic Escapism, and it perfectly captures this playful interior vibe of the moment.
