Oh hello friends! Let’s kick off an exciting new week together with a happy clappy organization and declutter method called Swedish Death Cleaning. Yippee! SOUNDS FUN RIGHT?

This topic seriously keeps popping up online and since you may have missed it when I first covered it back in 2022 on my blog - I thought HEY LET ME DEPRESS EVERYONE AGAIN TODAY!

First, I guess I should tell you what this is all about and then, I’ll share a funny story that I’m most definitely going to regret later about a sex toy, and then I’ll wrap up with how to do the dreaded death clean in four easy steps.

FIRST.

Swedish Death Cleaning is a Swedish method to organize and de-clutter your home that not only encourages you to take your own needs into consideration, but to consider those you leave behind and what you will leave for them as well as how they will feel going through your things after your demise.

What it’s not: Swedish Death Cleaning isn’t about buying new plastic bins or IKEA systems or learning new ways to KEEP everything but in a more organized manner.

It’s about losing all the things to make your departure from this planet super easy emotionally on your family.

WHAT A HEAVY THOUGHT. I told you this would be a fun discussion!

It’s like our own death isn’t heavy enough to consider, now we have to wonder what our family will say as they dig through our journals and papers, photos and clothes, kitsch and miscellaneous crap…
