This is so timely! I’ve been dying to get an upholstered headboard for a couple of years now. It’s great to see so many styles and shapes! I’m a sucker for velvet ones but the rattan ones are dreamy too!

I am happy to hear this - I am the same - I think the headboard is overlooked but is a huge design element in a bedroom and can really add charm!

Exactly! It's one of the first things I notice in a bedroom.

Love the idea of unconventional headboard shapes. I’ve been trying to find the right piece for an upcoming guest room reno, but nothing feels right so I may just go rogue and make something squiggly and fun. Thanks for the inspiration!

Yes I saw some made DIY out of upholstered pool noodles! Have you seen those before? Hilarious right, but if done well, then why not?

At the risk of sounding off-ish here about bedroom interiors - I have to confess that as one in the business of interiors, watching interiors and interior trends, I have become somewhat disheartened by the lack of creativity in bedrooms. They seem to have become somewhat generic, all with the same type of elements in them, in one or another form. But nothing that jumps out at me and gets my attention. It's such a pity actually. That is why I am welcoming the diversity that is shaping up on the headboard front. I enjoyed your post and at the moment, I am drawn particularly to that ' wave' headboard. I saw it for the first time while watching The 2023 Block Australia. The kinda bedroom that has always rocked my world is that which Kit Kemp conjures up. It's pure magic. Some of the decor elements are the same in all the rooms like the nightstand and the desk chair. But the variety that comes via wallpaper, fabrics and rugs - OMG - I simply love it. Take care. Rose

Rose I agree 100% - bedrooms are so generic and typical - a big box in the center of a room flanked by two side tables. Meh. You're so right. Glad you're inspired by this post about headboards - I like to try topics here on my Substack that I don't see covered so often elsewhere that I find interesting. :) Thank you so much reading and for your comment. :)

OMG - it is super cool to hear someone with your calibre of interior skills and understanding, agreeing with the observations and feelings I have come to. I'm wondering whether this whole ' grey decade we have gone through, the uninspiring global phenomena during that time, hasn't induced a kinda apathic state with interiors. It just so often feels like inspiration has left the room. Naturally that is a bit of a blanket statement, since inspired pockets do show up. often. But we need much more inspiration to be injected into our interior mindsets. Okay - I'll quit now. We need posts like these - stuff that goes against the grain of the subtle apathetic, listless mould.
