I'm with you, Holly! I used to hate red, and now it reminds me of Sicily and the Italian Riviera. I even wrote an article about it for Leanne Ford's Feel Free magazine in the last issue. Viva la red. But like Jaime said - no to purple!!
I’ve always been turned off by orange in a similar way (it made me feel angry and anxious) but I do love it now for home decor. Crazy how our tastes can evolve so drastically!!! The last four pics are gorg, especially that bathroom. Unexpected place to see, and love, the color red. For me, it’s either going to be a little red in a pillow or the entire wall has to be coated with it! There’s just no in between with red. Maybe it’s my Latina blood! 🤣
Love all these images, especially those red checked floors! When I was becoming adult I somehow ended up with a collection of red small appliances. Blender, food processor, kitchen aid mixer and then finally when we bought our first house 12 years ago we bought a candy apple red washer and dryer. I can’t explain it because I’m not at all drawn to the color in other areas, but for some reason if feels right in my kitchen
I am in alignment with your old way of thinking. Never in my home, not even the plastic part of a kitchen tool. And of course never in a vehicle. But I'm liking red more these days in small objects, as long as there is lots of orange in it or if it's tilting toward something rosy! Or better yet, the dull faded red of an old barn door. Ha!
I love red, oranges combined with greens. I bought many years ago 2 big red rugs from Morocco and together with wooden furniture, any room feels more cozy.
I've always loved red. I haven't always used it on my interiors but I did in one room at my B&B in Italy and it was beautiful and dramatic. But I didn't want it in my personal space. But now it's the main highlight color in my living room - blankets, a sideboard, in the art, pillows. I have come to see it a synomous with comfort. Plus there's Mac Russian Red lipstick which I never am without 😂
I have never liked red either. It always seemed so limiting to me and I felt forced to put navy blue with it for some reason. I only used it during the Christmas holidays because it was easy. My favorite color has been coral, or burnt orange, rusty, brown earthy colors.
But for some reason in January a pair of khaki pants with little red hearts caught my eye and I bought them. 🫢 I have not worn them yet but I feel like I have nothing to ‘go’ with them.
On top of this I feel compelled to reupholster my sofa in a rich paprika mohair fabric I spotted a month ago. I seriously don’t know what has come over me!!!! 🫣
Honestly I think I’m already dialing the sofa color back. Maybe a red pillow??!
Relatable for me and purple! 💜
Great minds think alike Holly, I’m sharing my Fifty Shades of Brown this week 🤎
