I’ve tried to put a name to my interior style (I’m in the UK) and the closest I’ve got is modern country, which now I think is modern farmhouse without the farm machinery! 😄

This was interesting because we are building a house and trying NOT to have it be Modern Farmhouse because it feels so trendy but, since it lays its base on a neutral backdrop with black touches, it is certainly what we are doing. No, machinery touches for me either, just a clean backdrop for out bright artwork. This gives me something to think about today!

I was SO happy to see this today! I’m moving into a new home as we speak and, while this is the style of my old home and I really it, I was nervous to carry it over to the new place because I keep hearing it’s going out of fashion. (Even though I’ve always thought it was classic) What do you think? Do you have any suggestions to help keep it from looking dated? Thank you!

I do like this style and I love the McGees' show on Netflix, which Anna-Lena and I have watched extensively. I especially like the mix of older and vintage items.

But I can't help but think there is a missed opportunity to add bright some colours and crazy patterns...once you open that Pandora's Box, it's hard to unsee the possibilities!

Then again, you mentioned that this style is often associated with families, in which case the spaces in the pictures wouldn't actually look the way they do. Instead, there are bright-coloured toys lying on the ground, kids running around making noise, etc. And in that case, maybe the modern farmhouse style can act as a perfect opposing force, that soothes things down, adds sophistication and balances out all the stimulation? Just a thought that came to mind...
