Plants. I started with one moneytree. He/she became a baby, first one, then two, three aso. And for me it is so hard to give them away. Every little plant has it`s name. This was the mistake! When I was younger I collected many other things, but I am on a good way to get a minimalist.
Plants - that is a nice and healthy thing to collect - good for the air, the mood, and just lovely to look at. I started with a ficus fig of all things, and a monstera, and an aloe leaf someone brought me on the plane from Greece wrapped in tin foil and a paper towel. That aloe leaf turned into 5 plants now. Plants are really amazing, and thankfully I'm getting better at being a plant mom. I love that you name your plants, I've not tried that yet....
I'm no longer a collector of anything - during my last move I realized that I just couldn't bring all that stuff to my new home. Parting with my things wasn't easy but moving towards a simpler life has brought me a lot of peace and contentment. But I confess this... I still remember the giddiness I felt when exploring antique shops for mid century modern ceramics!
I agree with your words about how having less can lead to peace and contentment for many people who have many things then decide to downscale. That’s been the case with me to, during corona I got rid of about 70% of my wardrobe and shoes, also the wardrobe of my son that he can no longer wear anyway. Also toys, design objects I had, furniture, and I’m determined to keep going and continue to purge. I have collections of things but they are grouped together in places that I can easily manage which feels good. I also have a room at home that’s a dedicated „prop“ room but I need to get rid of most things in there now too. My profession kept me bogged down in products but I’m down with those days and like you, I appreciate and value empty space a lot more!
These interiors feel like a deep breath of fresh Springtime air.
I love the look, but I discovered Kate watson-Smyth and Rita Konig thanks to the lovely links you provided in AE&G Lesson Two. They brought me back to my real love of the English comfy interiors look. Deep color, lots of pattern and lovingly curated accessories that imbue my spaces with personal meaning.
I actually purchased Kate's class in CreateAcademy because I realized that I've been so focused on my own work of creating digital products that I was neglecting my passion for my home. For me Home Care is Self-Care🙂
Those ladies are so inspiring - Rita’s home is on the cover of my first book (UK edition) and I styled her home for the day which was photographed for the same book - you can see it in “Decorate” on Amazon.com if you are curious. Kate WS is also awesome and she has several books - and a wonderful podcast!
What a wonderfully creative space, so much to love. Think my fave is that kitchen dining space with all the windows creating so much light. Though I also like the idea of sleeping under that skylight and seeing the stars at night.
It’s all perfection
Agree, it really is lovely!

Enjoy a wonderful evening!

Gorgeous homes. Also, I LOVE the ceiling medallions!
Yes they are wonderful- I have them in my rooms at home too, they are very common where I am based in homes built around the 1900s.
